About Casita Chuparosa

Casita Chuparosa — that’s Spanish for Hummingbird Cottage. Our plan is to refurbish the little casita, located in the village of Cerro de Ortega, state of Colima, Mexico — then make it available for vacation rentals. We also hope to the turn the yard into a tropical garden (using organic methods) and haven for black iguanas. We will be living here for the next two years or so, while making all these improvements. Then we will make the casita available to visitors on a weekly rental basis.

Of course we will be reserving several weeks each year for ourselves, because this is a wonderful place to visit! We are just about two miles from the Pacific Ocean, with miles and miles of beaches. A couple miles down the road is the border with the state of Michoacan, home of the Monarch butterfly sanctuaries, and many more wonderful beaches. Inland a few miles the mountains begin, with forests and lakes to explore (and rumors of treasure!) Just a short drive up the coast we have the towns of Tecoman, Manzanillo and Puerto Vallarta, with all their exotic attractions.

So browse this blog and share our adventures, and let us know what you think!
